How to Publish Metrics & Format Dashboards in Sightfull | Step-by-Step Guide
To add data to your dashboard, start by opening a metric. You can access the Metrics Catalog by clicking on the Metrics button in the top menu bar.
Next, select the metric you want to publish. I'll choose Bookings. Once the metric is open, the Publish button in the top right corner becomes available.
Click Publish to add the metric to your dashboard. Once published, this metric is called a Signal.
The default selection is Dashboard, which is what we need. We can name the signal, so let's call it Bookings by Quarter, select our dashboard, and publish it as a bar chart.
Now, we've added our first signal. Let's go through the process again, but this time, we'll add a breakdown.
I'll go back to Metrics, select Bookings again, and add a Contract Length breakdown.
Now, we can see that the bar chart is split into three smaller charts for each quarter, grouped by contract length.
I want to publish this as Bookings Grouped by Contract Length. I'll select my dashboard, but this time, I'll publish it as a table.
Remember, publishing a signal does not affect the underlying metric, only how it's displayed in the dashboard.
Now, let’s add the final signal type—Number. I'll open Bookings again, select Number of Bookings, choose the current year, and publish it as a number widget.
I'll name it Bookings Number and select my dashboard. Now we have three different signal types:
- Bar Chart
- Table
- Number
Now, let’s look at formatting the dashboard.
I've adjusted my dashboard by resizing widgets—widening the graph for better readability and making the table wider to show more data.
I’ve also moved the Numbers Widget to the top right corner to quickly show current data alongside historical trends.
All of this can be done using the Edit button. Here, you can:
- Resize and move widgets
- Add text widgets and dividers
- Customize the dashboard layout
